Ration Card: Has Your Ration Card Been Cancelled? Here’s How to Check!

A ration card (Paditara Cheeti) is an important document used for several government-related services. It is required not only to receive subsidized food grains but also to apply for various official certificates and government facilities. Recently, news about the cancellation of ration cards has been circulating across the state, creating confusion and fear among many cardholders.

The government has now reopened the window for ration card corrections, and at the same time, the Department of Food and Civil Supplies has intensified efforts to identify fake BPL cards. Because of this, thousands of cards are being cancelled every month, and lakhs of cards have already been removed from the system. The eligibility of BPL cardholders is once again being re-examined, and many more cards may be cancelled soon.

In many households, two ration cards are created by changing member names or by misusing the system. Such duplicate cards, inactive cards, and cards that do not meet eligibility rules are all expected to be cancelled. This is why people are eager to know which ration cards will be cancelled and what new rules are being implemented.
