In a major relief for students who have completed their 12th standard education, the Central Government has announced financial assistance under the Inter Scholarship scheme. As per the announcement, eligible male students will receive ₹2,500, while female students will be provided ₹3,500 as scholarship support.
The initiative aims to encourage students to continue their education after Class 12 and reduce financial barriers during the transition to higher studies or skill-based courses. Officials stated that the higher amount for girl students is intended to promote female education and improve participation of women in higher education and professional training.
The scholarship will be available to students who have passed the 12th standard (Intermediate) from recognized boards. The amount is expected to be credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and timely disbursal.
According to sources, the Inter Scholarship can be used by students to meet initial education-related expenses such as college admission fees, application charges, books, study materials, or enrollment in vocational and skill-development programs.
Education experts have welcomed the move, stating that even modest financial assistance can play a crucial role in preventing dropouts, especially among students from economically weaker sections. Parents have also expressed appreciation, noting that the scholarship provides timely support at a critical stage.
Eligible students are advised to regularly check official Central Government notifications and scholarship portals for detailed eligibility criteria, application procedures, and deadlines related to the Inter Scholarship scheme.
