Government Schemes for Pregnant Women: Get Up to ₹10,000 Financial Support – Tayi

The Government of India, along with various state governments, has introduced multiple welfare schemes to provide financial and healthcare support to pregnant women and infants. These schemes are especially beneficial for women from low-income families, ensuring safe pregnancy, proper nutrition, and institutional delivery.

One of the major schemes is the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Under this scheme, eligible pregnant women receive ₹5,000 in installments directly into their bank accounts. This support helps compensate for wage loss and allows women to take adequate rest during pregnancy. The amount is usually given in phases—after pregnancy registration, antenatal checkups, and childbirth.

Another important initiative is the Janani Suraksha Yojana. This scheme focuses on promoting hospital deliveries by providing cash incentives ranging from ₹600 to ₹1,400, depending on whether the beneficiary lives in a rural or urban area. The goal is to reduce risks during childbirth and improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

In Karnataka, additional support is available through the Mathrushree Scheme. This state scheme offers around ₹6,000 to pregnant and lactating women, ensuring better nutrition and medical care. Along with financial aid, beneficiaries may also receive free health checkups, supplements, and guidance during pregnancy.

When benefits from these schemes are combined, eligible women can receive up to ₹10,000 or even more, depending on their eligibility and the schemes they qualify for. The money is usually transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and timely payments.

Apart from cash assistance, the government also provides non-monetary benefits. For example, new mothers may receive baby care kits, free vaccinations, and nutritional supplements through Anganwadi centers. These services play a crucial role in improving the overall health of both mother and child.
